Oola make it three from three in Limerick SFC

Just 72 hours removed from their All-Ireland semi-final loss to Kilkenny, Richie English, Darragh O’Donovan and Pat Ryan were part of the Oola team that defeated Na Piarsaigh 2-11 to 1-9 in the third round of the Limerick Senior Football championship on Tuesday evening.

O’Donovan lined out at midfield while English and Ryan were part of a forward line that also included Mikey O’Brien who was part of John Kiely’s extended panel.

It would be former intercounty footballer Josh Ryan that would draw first blood for Oola however with his early penalty coupled with Keith Bourke’s goal giving Oola a 2-4 to 0-5 lead at the break.

Na Piarsaigh responded with a goal of their own through Will Henn early in the second half but it wouldn’t be enough as Oola all but booked their place in the knockout rounds.

Ballylanders and Fr Caseys meet tonight in Feenagh in the final game of the round with the fourth round kicking off on Friday evening.

Elsewhere on Tuesday there were big wins for St Pats and Kildimo Pallaskenry in the Intermediate championship.

St Pats’ win over Rathkeale puts them top of their group level on points with Claughaun while Kildimo Pallas’ victory against Glin drew them level on points with the West side at the bottom of the table.
