LISTEN: “If we give it 100% I think we will get over the line” – John Ryan

Limerick’s Ladies Football side face a do or die fixture this weekend when they take on Laois in the relegation playoff from the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship.

A defeat for John Ryan’s side would see them slip back to the Junior grade, a year after lifting that title at Croke Park.

Ryan’s charges head into the game on the back of defeats to Sligo, Down and Kildare. The performances have been improving game by game, but the Limerick boss feels that they should have come out with a victory in that last game against Sligo. At this stage, good performances are not enough.

“It was a good performance alright, but the big thing is that good performances are no good.

“We should have won that match. We were beaten by three points but should have won it. Basically, that leaves us now in a very difficult position on Sunday against Laois.

“It’s all about preparation this week and getting our heads right and getting ourselves ready for a relegation final.

“I don’t think anybody wants to be in this position but that’s the way it is and we have to face up to it now.”
