Drom Broadford overcame a stubborn Adare side 1-18 to 3-05 last night in Knockaderry to pick up their second victory in this years Limerick SFC. Drom started the better and found themselves 0-6 to 0-1 at the quarter hour mark.
Adare responded well and Mark Connoly bagged their first goal in the 22nd minute. Adare took the lead three minutes later with Stephen Keeley scoring from the penalty spot. At the half Adare lead by the minimum, 2-2 to 0-7.
However, Drom dominated the second period. Paul Madigan had their goal in the 5th minute of the second half to give them a 1-10 to 2-3 advantage.
Adare got their third goal with Keeley slotting his second penalty. Yet Drom never looked in trouble and were lead by Micheal Brosnan with six points from play and Derry McCarthy with four from play.
Drom now lie on 5 points and look to have one foot in the knockout stages while Adare have a bit to do as they have 3 points.
Meanwhile in Newcastle West, Fr Caseys picked up a valuable 2-11 to 0-10 victory over Rathkeale.
The first half saw the sides feel each other out as neither could grab a foothold in the game. At the half the sides were deadlocked 0-6 apiece.
This trend continued in the second half as the sides remained level 0-8 with 20 minutes to go.
However, Darren Keane would prove to be the difference between the sides as his two Quickfire goals in the 41st and 44th minute secured the win for the Abbeyfeale men.
The Limerick SFC continues this Friday evening, June 16, with three fixtures at 7.30
