Former Ireland and Munster legend Tony Ward chats with Sporting Limerick on his picks for the Lions as the Test selection looms at 8pm this evening.
Peter O’Mahony has been touted by many as not only a starter but as many people’s choice as captain. Ward is in agreement with the pundits and says that O’Mahony is the in-form player on tour and that CJ Stander deserves a place on the replacements.
Ward played one Test game for the British and Irish Lions during the 1980 South Africa tour. He set a Lions Test record by scoring 18 points, including 5 penalties and a drop goal. It was also a record for any player against South Africa.
The outhalf thinks the Lions will push the All Blacks. Ward was speaking with Sporting Limerick’s Luke Liddy and you can hear the interview in full below.
