How It Stands | Quarter-Final pairings set in Limerick JAHC after eventful final round

The group stages of the Limerick Junior A hurling championship concluded over the weekend.

The quarter-final pairings in the Limerick JAHC have been confirmed after an eventful final weekend of group stage action.

The four sides who will contest the relegation play-off are also now known.

In the quarter-finals, Mungret St Pauls face St Patricks while Ballybricken Bohermore take on Killeedy this Saturday. The following day Doon play St Kierans while Ballybrown meet Caherline.

Below look through the final standings in each of group as the top two progress to the quarter-finals and the bottom team head into the relegation play-offs.


Group 1

Going into the final day, Mungret St Pauls were the only team guaranteed of a quarter-final berth. The City men lost their unbeaten start as they were defeated by Feenagh Kilmeedy on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-14. However it wasn’t enough for the West side who were pipped to the last eight by Doon on score difference after they beat Monaleen 8-26 to 0-8 to overturn the sixteen point differential they faced prior to throw in. Elsewhere, Patrickswell finished their campaign with a 2-17 to 1-7 win over Askeaton.

Group 2

St Kierans’ win over Ahane secured top spot for the West men with Ahane’s place in the relegation spot guaranteed prior to the game. Kierans will be joined in the quarter-finals by St Patricks after they beat Kilteely Dromkeen in a winner takes all contest. Monagea and Garryspillane finished level on points after the latter won in a highscoring contest that ended 7-17 to 5-20.

Group 3

Caherline booked thier place in the knockout stages at the expense of Crecora Manister, winning their meeting by five points. Ballybricken Bohermore moved into the quarter-finals as group winners level on points but ahead of Caherline after winning their earlier clash after beating Templeglantine in round five. Old Christians will face into the relegation play-offs after they drew with Drom Broadford. A win for Christinas would have seen the West side face into the play-offs.

Group 4

Ballybrown became the second side to book their quarter-final place after they beat Staker Wallace on Thursday. That result means Staker will head into the relegation battle after finishing behind Clauaghun on score difference. Killeedy will join Ballybrown in the knockout stages after their draw with Castletown Ballyagran was enough to ensure progress on score difference. Elsewhere Rathkele concluded their campaign with a win over Cluaghaun.
