Highlights | Billy Lee’s footballers fall to Cork in All-Ireland qualifiers

After a great league campaign the Limerick Footballers season has ended with a tough loss to Cork.

Cork have now ended Limerick’s All-Ireland hopes for a second year running with a 2-18 to 1-16 win in the second round of the qualifiers in Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.

Limerick’s downfall came in the 3rd quarter of the match with the Treaty men down to 14 following a black card.

Cork took full advantage and scored 1-3 in quick succession without reply from Lee’s men.

Limerick did hit back with a goal from Brian Donovan as Cork’s Paul Walsh was sent off. Adrian Enright then fired a point over on the 61st minute to make it a two score game.

But late penalty sealed Limerick’s fate as Brian Hurley made no mistake and fired home.
