Limerick native O’Connor completes transfer to League One side Lincoln

The Limerick man captained Braford City and won numerous individual awards with the club.

Paudie O’Connor is on the move after Lincoln City today confirmed the signing of the Limerick native from Bradford.

24-year-old O’Connor was the interest of a number of clubs as his contract expires later this month after

Speaking on the move, O’Connor is excited to move up a level as he joins the League one club.

“I wanted to pick somewhere I could develop and have the opportunity to play another 40 plus games a season, as I have over the past few years.
 
“My next career move needed to be right football-wise. I wanted to step up to League One and it’s clear there is a structure in place here to allow me to kick on.
 
“I’ve had a good couple of weeks off so feel rested and I’m just buzzing to get in for pre-season.”

Lincoln head coach Mark Kennedy added,

“Paudie was our No.1 target for this position and we are delighted to be able to announce him as our first signing of the summer.

O’Connor leave Bradford after four years at the club where he was named Bradford City AFC Players’ Player of the Year for the second successive season in May.

The 24-year-old had a loan spell with Bradford during the 2018/19 season before signing a permanent deal for the following campaign.

He has started in each of his 45 appearances last season at centre-back scoring three goals in the process.

In Ireland, O’Connor represented Regional United, Kilcornan and Breska Rovers while he was a key figure for Limerick FC when they won the First Division title in 2016.

O’Connor will officially join the Imps on 1 July after the expiration of his contract with Bradford.
