“If you can get the basics right, that’ll bring confidence” | Granagh-Ballingarry’s Mags Lynch on side’s Championship preparations

The side were defeated in the semi-final of the competition last year by eventual champion Newcastle West.

Granagh-Ballingarry will be hoping for better fortunes this year as the Limerick Senior Camogie Championship gets underway this Saturday.

A semi-final loss to Newcastle West in 2021 meant the end of the road for the West Limerick side but they’ll be looking to go one better in this year’s competition.

The group two side will get their campaign underway against Na Piarsaigh and Mags Lynch of Granagh-Ballingarrry believes their confidence will be a very important aspect if they look to progress.

“I think work-rate is a big thing so working really hard in training and that’s what the girls have been doing and then I suppose the other thing is backing yourself, confidence is a big one.

“If you can get the basics right, which is what we’re working on in training, that’ll bring confidence on the day of the games.”

2022 will be the first year since 2019 where Covid-19 isn’t interfering with the Limerick SCC and Lynch has labelled the return to normality as indescribable.

“It’s crazy, you don’t realize it until it’s gone. Those virtual sessions the last couple of years with Covid and being able to actually get back together on a pitch, you can’t describe it!”
