David Dunphy: “I was Delighted with the Way we went about our Business”

Ballynanty Rovers manager Dave Dunphy was delighted with the 5-1 victory over Mungret Regional and the response to Thursday night’s defeat to Pike Rovers. At a sun drenched LIT on Sunday morning, Ballynanty picked up their first win of the campaign on the astro turf pitch as work is being conducted on the grass pitch at LIT.

Ballynanty scored three quick-fire goals in a 15 minute spell to put the game beyond their opponents and Dunphy was happy with the attitude.

“I was delighted with that. The likes of Mungret under Richie Burke are well organised. A lot of the time in the Premier Division, its about getting the first goal and we did that. The two quick goals after that made it a more comfortable day for us than we expected. I was delighted with the performance.”

Dunphy was delighted with the performances of his new players many of which have made the step up from Premier A. He reserved special praise for Cian Fitzgerald and Cian Power.

“We were always looking to build a squad this year. Last year, we ran a bit short at times. The lads that have come in from Moyross like Aaron and Cian Power and Habideen (Gbadebo) along with Cian Fitzgerald and Conor Keane are brilliant additions. It won’t always go our way but today we were able to get the ball down and get the lads involved. We had a couple of excellent performances particularly from Cian Power who I thought was excellent. It was a fantastic performance from Cian Fitzgerald in the middle of the park as well.”

The Ballynanty maanger is relishing the clash with newly promoted Carew Park on Thursday night and says there is a different feeling when facing another inner city side which adds to the excitement of the league.

“I love the inner city games. I love playing against the likes of Carew Park and Geraldines and I think it’s what the league is all about. That is no disrespect to anyone outside of that zone but there is just a certain feeling you get when you go up to play the local lads because if you are beaten there is nowhere to hide. I am looking forward to it and it will be another tough game but we will get ourselves set on Tuesday and prepare as best as we can.”
