Details of Limerick’s U21 hurlers All-Ireland final with Kilkenny confirmed.
We have known for some time that Semple Stadium would be hosting the All Ireland U21 Hurling final between Limerick and Kilkenny but the Thurles venue was confirmed on Wednesday with a 3pm throw in on Saturday the 9th of September.
The 3pm throw in time represents a move from the usual later start and will be preceded by Kerry and Wicklow in the “B” final.
Kilkenny had a facile victory over Derry in their semi final while Limerick were put the the pin of their collars to get past a tough Galway challenge. While the Cats will have gained nothing from their semi final stroll, Limerick were certainly tested and the Galway game will certainly stand them as they go in search of a 6th All Ireland U21 title and their first since the 2015 side eased past Wexford in the final.
Eddie Brennan’s side have accounted for Dublin, Westmeath, Wexford and Derry en route to the final while Pat Donnelly’s charges have accounted for Tipperary, Clare, Cork and Galway. Should Limerick kick on and win the final, nobody could accuse them of taking the easy road.

Kilkenny are tied with Cork for the most All Ireland U21 hurling titles with 11 and will be looking to claim top spot with their first title since their 2008 win over Tipperary.
It also gives many of this Limerick panel the chance to avenge the 2014 All Ireland Minor Final defeat with the Cats emerging 2-17 to 0-19 points winners on the day, highlights of which you can see below.
