Munster can take a huge step towards a home spot in the URC play-offs with a win over the Glsagow Warriors this Saturday in Thomond Park at 5.15pm.
Graham Rowntree’s side are within two points of this weekend’s opponents who currently occupy fourth spot in the URC table. The top four will have home advantage in the play-offs with just three rounds of action left to play.
With the majority of their internationals returning this weekend, coach Andy Kyriacou is delighted with how the team have fared during the Six Nations.
“It’s put us in a good spot but we’re all well aware that the really tough games are ahead of us now. Everything is fully, narowly focused on the next game which is Glasgow and that’s been the case throughout the whole season, we’ve never looked too far ahead and the lads are fully tuned in to the challenge ahead against a very good Glasgow team.”
One of those returning to the side is Criag Casey who started his first-ever Six Nations game against Italy in Rome. The Limerick native spoke fondly of his time with the Grand Slam winning team but is looking forward to getting back to domestic action this Saturday.
“It’s probably a bit easier coming back for a massive game knowing that we can hop Glasgow with a win. Obviously, you’re gutted to leave camp but equally, you’re coming back into an environment that’s buzzing at the minute, that have done really well over the last few games and there’s competition for places so not much time to dwell on Saturday. We definitely enjoyed last Saturday night but looking forward to getting back in this now!”
Kyriacou also discussed the positive impact of the returning internationals with the business end of the season around the corner.
“Massive characters that bring a lot of energy and knowledge. Very fortunate that they are all back on deck and they’re adding value to the training sessions and getting on board with the hard work that the lads have done while they have been away up the road.”
Munster look to move into the top four of the URC this Saturday evening against Glasgow Warriors with kick off at 5.15pm in Thomond Park.
