HIGHLIGHTS | Limerick Minors hold off Clare to maintain 100% start to the championship

The Treaty held off the Banner following a second-half fightback to keep their 100% record in this year’s minor championship.

Limerick maintained their perfect start to the Munster Minor Hurling Championship on Tuesday evening with a 2-20 to 0-22 win over Clare in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

Evan Loftus’ side had goals in either half from Sean Duff and Robert O’Farrell to keep the spirited visitors at bay in an exciting tussle.

Limerick’s lead at the break was four with five Hugh Flanagan scores from play adding to Duff’s early green flag.

O’Farrell then put further distance between the sides after the resumption with a fine finish that had the Treaty 2-13 to 0-12 clear. Clare rallied and pulled within a single point with ten to play but scores from Jack Cosgrave, Patrick Kearney and top scorer Darren Collopy eased Limerick clear again for victory.

They play Tipperary next on April 18 knowing another win would guarantee a semi-final place at the least ahead of their final round meeting with Cork the following week.
