The Limerick Minor Footballers will look to confirm their place in the Munster Phase One final on Thursday evening as they welcome Waterford to Mick Neville Park.
If the Shannonsiders avoid defeat and so do Tipperary against Clare on the same evening, then Limerick will face the Premier in next week’s Phase One final. The finalists will also be guaranteed a place in the Munster semi-final against either Cork or Kerry.

After a 0-7 to 1-11 defeat to Tipperary in the first round, Limerick got their season back on track last week with a two-point win over Clare in Miltown Malbay. The Shannonsiders hit the net four times to trump the Banner and put them in pole position to qualify for the final with Tipperary who are all but guaranteed their place in the final barring a huge final day swing of scores.
Limerick manager John Ryan has made just one change to the team with Kieran O’Kelly coming in for Cian Costello with Liam Og Glynn switching to midfield. The side will have to do without team captain for the third successive game as Aidan O’Shea inches towards his return.
They face a Waterford side that are without a point in the championship thus far, falling to both Clare and Tipperary. They have a score difference of -34 but are not mathematically out of the qualification picture but they would need to overturn a 44-point differential with Clare to have any chance.
Twelve months ago, Limerick responded to a first round loss to Tipperary with successive wins over Clare and Waterford as they look to do so once again this time around.
Limerick have an impressive recent record against the Deise at the minor level with the their last loss to Waterford coming back in 2013 where they fell to a 3-10 to 3-9 defeat.
They did play out a draw in 2020 but Limerick will be hoping for a repeat of last year’s result that would go a long way in securing a place in the Phase One decider.
