Munster sweat on outcome of Dan Goggin’s knee scan.
Rassie Erasmus and the Munster management team will have to sweat on the outcome of a scan to assess the extent of the damage on Dan Goggin’s knee after after the 22 year old was carried off during the second half of Munster’s 34-3 win over Treviso at the weekend.
Goggin replaced Chris Farrell in the 66th minute but was stretchered off eight minutes later, which meant that Munster finished the game with 14 players having already used their full complement of replacements.
Speaking at Monday’s press conference, Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus says Goggin is the biggest concern after the weekend’s exploits:
“I think the biggest worry is Dan Goggin, he is going for a scan on his knee today (Monday) but I think for all of us it is pretty serious so I think he will be a long term injury. Otherwise there are not too many worries in the team.”
It’s a big setback for the Young Munster club man who showed great potential during his 15 appearances to date for the province and was sure to feature again this year.
Thanks for all the kind messages of support. Gutted to be sidelined for awhile and will have full results of the knee when scan comes back. pic.twitter.com/P3rweqFVJM
