We get the thoughts of all the head coaches involved in this week’s games.

Bruff V Sundays Well

The first Limerick side in action this coming weekend in the Senior cup is Bruff RFC who play host to Cork side Sundays well on Friday night in Kilballyowen Park at 7:30. The county Limerick side, who last won the competition in 2011, will be hoping to produce a better performance than they did in their season opener against Old Crescent in the Charity cup were they went down 55-7 two just over a week ago.

Their opponents, Sundays Well will be a fairly unknown quantity to the East Limerick men seeing as they are two divisions ahead of them in the Ulster Bank Leagues.

Nenagh V UL Bohemian

Next up on Friday night is the clash between Nenagh Ormond and UL Bohemians at 7:45 in Nenagh. This will be the sides second meeting in a week after Nenagh came away with a superb win over the 1B side last Saturday on a scoreline on 20-17 in the Limerick Charity cup.

UL Bohemians will be going into this looking to make amends after going losing out on an early chance of some silverware last weekend. Bohs haven’t had a huge amount of success in this competition only winning it four times, the last being over 50 years ago in 1962. With only three points separating the sides last time out, you can expect this to be a tight affair.

Midleton V Old Crescent

Old Crescent are the next Limerick club in action on Saturday when they travel  to Towns Park to face Midleton RFC. Crescent, who have never won the Munster Senior cup, will be pleased with their start to the season thus far, after a huge win in their opening game against Bruff and then a good showing despite losing to a strong Garryowen side last Friday.

Crescent, who are one division above their opponents, will be hoping to come away from Cork with a victory given they have already faced two strong sides this season which should stand well to them. This Senior cup games also Kicks off at 2:00pm on Saturday.

Shanon V Cork Constitution

Next up for Shannon RFC is the unenviable task of facing Ulster bank league, and current Munster senior cup champions, Cork Constitution. Tom Hayes men are going into the tie coming off a loss to Nenagh over a week ago in the Charity cup and face an even bigger challenge against a Cons’ side who are going for an incredible 6th Munster Senior Cup in a row this season.

One positive for Shannon is that they will have home advantage. It will be a huge challenge for Shannon but they will definitely be ready to try and cause an upset in Coonagh on Saturday. Again this tie kicks off at 2:00pm.

Young Munster V Highfield

Lastly, Young Munster will host Highfield at 2:00pm on Saturday in Tom Clifford park. The cookies will be hurting after an early season hammering from Garryowen in the first round of The Charity cup.

Munsters’ haven’t won this competition since 2010 and will be looking to go one step further this year after losing out to Cork Constitution for the last 2 years in the final. Georoid Prendergast’s side may have a few Munster academy players at their disposal seeing as Munster will be facing the Cheetahs on Saturday also, if that is the case, Munsters’ will be confident in making it to the next round.
