Frustration as Limerick Cork meeting once again postponed

With the third attempt to play the game a failure due to the heavy rain that fell the night before, it now remains to be seen if and when the tie can be fulfilled.

Limerick’s Co-op Superstores Munster Hurling League meeting with Cork was once again postponed on Sunday afternoon.

The game had been scheduled to take place at Mick Neville Park at 1pm, but following an early morning pitch inspection at the Rathkeale venue, the game was called off yet again.

The initial fixture was postponed due to heavy fog and reduced visibility in Mallow before the rescheduled tie was also cancelled last Wednesday due to a frozen pitch.

With the third attempt to play the game a failure due to the heavy rain that fell the night before, it now remains to be seen if and when the tie can be fulfilled.

Limerick take on Tipperary in a charity game for the Dillon Quirke foundation next Sunday, and the Allianz Hurling League is set to commence on February 4th, putting time at a minimum.

Avoid defeat to Cork and John Kiely’s men will meet Waterford in the final, which had originally been fixed to take place last Sunday.
