The Treaty are the favourites for the 2024 title, the bookies fancying their chances of making it six on the trot.
Munster’s Senior hurling teams are busy preparing for this year’s instalment of the province’s premier competition. The Munster Senior Hurling Championship begins on April 21, with Limerick, Clare, Cork and Waterford all in action.
John Kiely’s men face Clare in the opening round, a tie where they are 8/15 favourites, the Banner priced at 15/8. Brian Lohan’s side won the Allianz League, getting the better of Kilkenny in the final, who had eliminated Limerick in the previous round.
Limerick met Clare in the final of last year’s Munster Championship, winning by the minimum to secure their fifth consecutive Mackey Cup.
The Treaty are the favourites for the 2024 title, the bookies fancying their chances of making it six on the trot.
Limerick ended a six year wait for Munster glory in 2019, when they got past Tipperary in TUS Gaelic Grounds, who are priced at 13/2 to win the provincial title.
They made it two in a row in Semple Stadium in 2020, picking up a four point win over Waterford. Davy Fitzgerald’s charges are 20/1 to go all the way this year.
Another final win over Tipperary in 2021 was followed up by back-to-back wins over the Banner in 2022 and 2023. Lohan’s men are 4/1 to dethrone their Shannonside rivals.
Cork won consecutive Munster titles in 2017 and 2018, and lost out to John Allen’s Limerick in the 2013 final. The Rebels are 5/1 for glory in 2024.
