Adare and Newcastle West win to set up SFC final showdown | Football Round Up

Jimmy Lee’s NCW were too strong for Monaleen, while Adare needed extra-time to get past Fr Casey’s over the weekend.

Following an action packed weekend across the Limerick football championships, we learned the final pairings across the county’s top four tiers.

Jimmy Lee’s Newcastle West were too strong for Monaleen, while Adare needed extra-time to get past Fr Casey’s in the Senior semi-finals.

NCW are on the hunt for their third SFC title in a row, having beaten 2020 winners Adare in the previous two finals.

The west side had little difficulty putting away Monaleen, as Mike McMahon struck an early goal to put his side in the ascendency.

A strong performance from Iain Corbett helped NCW to a third successive final, where Adare were waiting following a victory over Fr Casey’s on Saturday, led by the impressive Hughie Bourke.

Bourke and Adare needed extra-time, with the sides level following normal-time, but the 2020 champions stepped up in the added period to get over the line.

Mungret St Paul’s are into the Intermediate final after a two-point win over Rathkeale, where they will face Dromcollogher Broadford, who defeated St Senan’s.

Feenagh Kilmeedy were confirmed as Premier Junior finalists, defeating Croom by the minimum to set up a final meeting with NCW’s second team, who also enjoyed a one-point win, at the expense of Cappagh.

Elsewhere, in the Junior A championship, Mungret St Paul’s and Camogue Rovers picked up wins to secure final places.
