Billy Lee looks ahead to Cork challenge following Quarter-final dominance over Waterford

Billy Lee’s Limerick footballers put Waterford to the sword, 4-18 to 0-12 on Saturday to seal their place in the Munster Championship semi-final against Cork.

The game took place in the LIT Gaelic Grounds on Saturday with Lee’s side coming away convincing winners with a fine display from the highly improved Limerick side.

The treaty side saw nine different scorers aid their victory over a Waterford side who never got going. Limerick went into the half with an eight-point lead and never looked back.

The scorers for the home side included Cillian Fahy with 1-1. Danny Neville and Cian Sheehan both kicked over a brace while Josh Ryan, Tommie Childs and Brian Donavon all had 0-1 to their names.

The main threat from Billy Lees side came from Hugh Bourke who had an impressive 1-6 in the game with three of those points coming from frees. Iain Corbett and Robbie Bourke were also on the scoreboard for the dominant winners.

The victory was never in doubt for the Shannonsiders as from start to finish dominated possession and proved too clinical for Ronayne’s men.

Limerick will be seeking a first Munster final berth since 2010 when they take on Cork on Saturday 10^th of July at 3pm. Ahead of the clash, Lee says there is room to work on the Deise performance.

“Let the next two weeks decide it, we will just focus on our performance and our standard. If Cork are ahead of that we will have to get to that and if not hopefully we will do enough to get over the line. But its about us and focusing on our standards and driving it on from there.

“There is definitely improvements from this game. I thought our attacking play was good but maybe not so much defensively as a team stopping them coming down the field so there’s things to work on.”
