Munster have been boosted by the news that out half Tyler Bleyendaal has returned to team training following a second neck surgery.
There was speculation that Bleyendaal may not even play again due to the second surgery but his return to training is a lift to Munster Head Coach Johann van Graan.
The province have also revealed some positive news about Conor Murray’s neck injury, saying he “is progressing well in his rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical department.”
Munster face a trip to Cardiff Blues this Friday and could welcome Irish internationals Keith Earls and CJ Stander back into the fold for the first time this season.
It’s not all positive on the injury front, however, as John Ryan requires a scan on the ankle injury he suffered in Munster’s win against the Ospreys last Friday. He will also see a specialist later in the week to determine further treatment.
Stephen Archer was treated for suspected concussion during the match and will undergo the return to play protocol under the supervision of the medical department. James Hart picked up a knee injury and will also be managed by the medical department.
Elsewhere, Stephen Fitzgerald and Sean O’Connor suffered concussion in the Celtic Cup on Saturday and will undergo the return to play protocol under the supervision of the medical department.
Players that are continuing to rehab with the medical department are as follows: Neil Cronin (shoulder), Billy Holland (ribs) Kevin O’Byrne (calf), Niall Scannell (shoulder), Liam O’Connor (knee), Conor Oliver (toe), Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Conor Murray (neck), Chris Farrell (knee), Ronan O’Mahony (ankle).
