BREAKING: New manager revealed for the Limerick Ladies Senior Football team

Limerick LGFA parted ways with Donal Ryan after a two year stint earlier this year after they bowed out of the championship.

Graham Shine will take over as manager for the upcoming season as announced earlier today by the Limerick LGFA.

Shine was manager of Kerry for two years in 2017-’18, guiding the Kingdom to the Munster championship in his first year at the helm as they fell to eventual All-Ireland winners Dublin in his maiden year in charge.

Speaking about the talent pool in the county, Shine is excited to get started with open trials to be held over the coming weeks.

“I have studied a lot of games in recent times of Limerick and I feel there is huge potential in the County. I watched every game this year and against Derry in particular, I saw exactly what made me certain that I wanted to be the next Limerick Adult coach and to work with the talented footballers in Limerick. 

The Limerick Ladies football team have reached successive All-Ireland semi-finals following their relegation to the junior ranks in 2019.

They were crowned Junior champions in 2018 under the tutelage of John Ryan.

In a statement on the Limerick LGFA website, the news was announced with the following statement:

It is our pleasure to welcome Graham Shine to the Position of Adult Manager with Limerick LGFA for the coming Season.

Graham brings a wealth of experience to the role having held various Management positions in his career including Managing the Kerry Senior team in recent years.

Limerick Chairperson PJ Kiely welcomed Graham saying

“We are delighted to have a Manager with Grahams experience and enthusiasm. Graham clearly has a great knowledge of Limerick Ladies football and has committed himself to our plans to develop Football in Limerick at both Club and County level. Graham is looking forward to speaking with Club Managers and Players over the coming weeks and engaging them in our plans to bring Limerick Ladies football to the next level.”

On Accepting the position Graham Shine said he was looking forward to getting stuck into his new role.

“I have studied a lot of games in recent times of Limerick and I feel there is huge potential in the County. I watched every game this year and against Derry in particular, I saw exactly what made me certain that I wanted to be the next Limerick Adult coach and to work with the talented footballers in Limerick.  In conjunction with the County board and their three-year development plan for Limerick, I have no doubt we can work very well together in the best interest of moving Limerick forward.”

Limerick Adult Ladies will be holding Open trials over the next few weeks and are inviting every eligible player in the County to attend and be part of what is going to be a pivotal year for our Teams.
