Costelloe leads Limerick to opening League win over Offaly

Limerick’s senior camogie team got off to a winning start in the Littlewoods Camogie League by beating Offaly 1-12 to 0-13.

Team captain Caoimhe Costelloe was the scorer in chief for Declan Nash’s side who play Clare in their next game on February 2.

Costelloe hit nine points in the two point victory – five frees, a ’45 and three from play. Karen O’Leary scored the game’s only goal, while Caoimhe Lyons and Deborah Murphy chipped in with the other scores.

Limerick led by a point at half time and the game looked to be heading for a draw until Costelloe intervened with two late points.

Limerick: Claire Keating; Megan O’Mara, Muireann Creamer, Marion Quaid; Rebecca Delee, Sara Carey, Mairead Ryan; Karen O’Leary, Rosin Ambrose; Deborah Murphy, Camomhe Lyons, Caoimhe Costelloe; Dearbhla Egan, Sophie O’Callaghan, Laura Stack.
