Earls calm as Lions team is soon to be announced

Lions squad predictions will come to an end tomorrow.

Head coach, Warren Gatland is set to name the players who will travel to New Zealand this summer. Nerves must be setting in for the players but Keith Earls is keeping his cool.

Earls, a Lion in 2009, is looking ahead to Munster’s upcoming Champions Cup semi final against Saracens while last week’s interprovincial derby game with Ulster was the last chance to impress for some Munster players. The Limerickman certainly did his chances of selection no harm with a man of the match winning performance.

Munster V Ulster last week was Earls’ last chance to impress Gatland with his man of the match performance ahead of selection.

There is fierce competition for a spot on the team however, Keith Earls has had a strong Six Nations and his experience could stand to him.

“If lads are in contention, if your name does get called out, it’s a great feeling and it’s probably one of the best in your rugby career.

“I’m not lying to you, it’s not a cliché. I’m genuinely not thinking about it.”

Earls is happy to focus on his Munster responsibilities while the rest of us speculate who will be picked for the Lions tour.
