Saturday’s fixtures will be the last of 2022 as All-Ireland League prepares for winter break until January 14th.
The six Limerick sides will be looking to head into the New Year with positive results as they take the field in the Energia AIL for the final time in 2022.
Last weekend saw two Limerick teams claim wins in their respective divisions, with Young Munster handing fellow Limerick side Shannon as 32-3 defeat while Old Crescent were 32-14 winners over Ballymena. The remaining four were on the losing side with UL Bohemian and Garryowen still searching for a first win.
In Division 1A, Young Munster host unbeaten leaders Terenure College at Tom Clifford Park this weekend. The Cookies have been in scintillating form in recent weeks, sealing their third consecutive win in a dominant display against Shannon but will need to be at their very best to contain a Terenure side that have eight wins from eight.
Shannon will be looking to dust themselves off after their Limerick derby humiliation as they make the journey to the Aviva Stadium to face Lansdowne. Both teams share identical records and head into Saturday’s clash with the wounds of a local derby defeat as the Dublin outfit were narrowly beaten 27-26 against UCD last time out.
Also in D1A, Garryowen travel to Castle Avenue to avoid a ninth straight defeat of the campaign when they take on second placed Clontarf. The Limerick outfit will feel a win is well overdue but definitely won’t find it easy against a Clontarf side that are chasing the title.
In Division 2A, U.L. Bohemian will provide host to MU Barnhall at UL Arena in an attempt to claim their first win of the campaign. Meanwhile, Old Crescent will look to prop up the table ahead of the New Year in their away day against Dolphin, carrying the momentum from their round 8 victory against Ballymena.
Lastly, Bruff will be hoping to get their season back on track in Division 2C when they face Midleton at Towns Park. A home defeat to Clonmel was their fate last weekend who leapfrog them in the table.
