Excitement builds with arrival of Liverpool Legends

Excitement is building at Aisling Annacotty AFC as they prepare to host a family fun day this coming Saturday, September 7th at the club grounds in Annacotty. The club will be unveiling their state of the art clubhouse fitted with new dressing rooms and a community centre to the public on the day.

The main event on Saturday is the arrival of a selection of Liverpool legends to take on Aisling Annacotty in an 11- a side match with a 2.30 pm start, which will take place on the club’s new grass pitch situated next to the existing astroturf facility.

The Liverpool Legends team will be managed by Jan Molby and will include Irish duo Ronnie Whelan and Jason McAteer as well as the likes of Paul Walsh, Jermaine Pennant, Don Hutchison and Alan Kennedy.

The local community have wholeheartedly supported the venture with the main sponsor; The Millhouse Bar and Grill hosting a pre-match lunch on Saturday before the big kick-off. Also, there will be a drinks reception at the Castletroy Park Hotel which will include a Q&A with Jan Molby and a special auction.

Another enticing aspect to the event will be the presence of the Champions League and F.A Cup trophy’s which will be on site on the day for the public to view and take photographs with.

Although it is a huge attraction, the Aisling Annacotty vs Liverpool Legends game is not the only activity available for families on the day. There will also be face painting available, a bouncing castle on site and a penalty shoot-out will take place during the day also.

The local support has been tremendous with tickets still on sale at Chawke’s Centra, The Hurlers Bar, Monaleen Stores, The Tap House, The Black Swan and Millhouse Bar and Grill. Tickets are on sale with the following prices; Adult: €10, Child: €5 and a family package which includes two adults and two children for €25. Also, Julie Kilmartin Educational Services have heavily supported the projects and are raffling off tickets to the event on their Twitter page.

Below, Ireland and Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan encourages people to support the event.

Aisling Annacotty manager Mike Aherne is eagerly anticipating the family fun day and is delighted to be a part of the developments taking place at the club.

The committee have been absolutely fantastic in driving this. It couldn’t happen without the sponsors and the local sponsors in particular. Julie Kilmartin Educational Services have been fantastic in lending their support.

It’s a costly business when you bring a team of superstars to Limerick but for the public to get to see this Liverpool side for just 10 euro for adults and 5 euros for kids is extremely good value.

The club really wanted to commemorate the opening of the new community centre and facilities by doing something really special. It will be a community event and is about Annacotty, Monaleen, Castletroy and all around Limerick coming together.

Aisling Annacotty chairman Jim Canny announced the plans for the new community centre at the beginning of the year and it is testament to the hard work going on behind the scenes that the work has been completed ahead of schedule.

With an underage structure which is the envy of many in the country and a sponsorship with Glasgow Celtic which gives Annacotty young players access to Celtic training camps and team tours to the Scottish venue, the future looks bright for Annacotty.
