Favourites begin with a bang | Limerick SFC Round Up

The opening round of the Limerick SFC took place over the weekend.

There was no real surprises from the opening round of the 2022 Limerick Senior Football Championship as most ties went by the way of the favourites.

Defending champions Newcastle West were victorious as were finalists Adare with both winning in repeats of last year’s semi-finals.

Newcastle West were 2-7 to 0-8 winners against Monaleen, improving on the one point win from 2021 while Adare were similarly dominant with a seven point victory.

Fr Caseys joined NCW with a Group One win as they were the most comprehensive side of the weekend with a 14-point victory.

Elsewhere in group one Clauaghaun and Galbally played out a draw.

In Group Two, Ballysteen had an impressive 2-8 to 2-3 win over Ballylanders while St Kierans left it late to see off promoted Kildimo Pallaskenry.

Each team will be in action again this weekend before a five week break to round three.
