Garryspillane are into the Premier IHC Final following a 2-14 to 1-14 win over Bruff in Kilmallock earlier today.
The Bouncers will now play Newcastle West in the final following The Magpies’ victory over Effin in the first semi-final played at Fitzgerald Park on Saturday.
Garryspillane recovered from a poor start to lead by a goal at the break with the impressive Hugh Flanagan raising the green flag for Aaron Considine’s team.
Colin Ryan’s goal 11 minutes from time copper fastened the win and Garryspillane are now just 60 minutes from a return to senior in 2025
Bruff had made a great start to the game with the first four points but a Bryan Heavey point and Flanagan’s goal, following excellent work by Eoin O’Mahony, saw Garryspillane back into the contest.
Heavey put in an impressive performance at centre forward but Bruff left plenty of chances either side of Adam Sheehan’s goal. They shot 10 wides in the first half.
Bruff did manage to level heading towards half time but points from Dylan O’Shea, Callum Sheehan and Flanagan saw Garryspillane lead by a goal at the break.
The second half was more one-sided with Garryspillane taking advantage of a strong breeze to move into a five-point lead thanks to two O’Shea long range placed balls.
They were reduced to 14 men after Callum Sheehan was shown a straight red card but it made no impact on the game as Garryspillane continued to dominate.
Bruff’s hopes of a comeback evaporated when Ryan fired in the second goal. Things got even more difficult when Danny O’Leary received his marching orders following an off the ball incident.
Owen Meany’s goal from a 21 metre free did give a flash of hope for Bruff in added time but it proved to be the final blow of the contest and Garryspillane ran out deserving winners.
