Munster played in what was their third consecutive bonus point win of the URC season against the Scarlets in Llanelli last Sunday.
Munster ran in six tries against Dwayne Peel’s Scarlets yesterday in the third round of the URC, although the team selected by Munster head coach Johann Van Graan was unfamiliar to many, they displayed just how dangerous they can be against a often difficult opposition.
Munster came out of the gates early with number eight Jack O’Sullivan cantering over for the game’s opening try. It wasn’t long before Munster crossed the Scarlets try line again in the form of Liam Coombes, scoring his first of two tries.
Scarlets scored their only try of the game in spectacular fashion when out-half Sam Costelow punched a grubber into the vacant Munster back field, only to be collected and finished by Scarlets fullback Johnny McNicholl.
Two further Munster tries from Jeremy Loughman preceded by a diving finish from winger Calvin Nash put Munster well in front. Munster captain Jack O’Donoghue kept his sides momentum going by setting up Liam Coombes for his second try.
Back-row Chris Cloete capped off his man of the match performance with six turnovers and the final try of the game, Ben Healy also turned heads setting up two tries and raking in 13 points off the tee for the victors.
