Treaty had been unbeaten in their last three league games, but did bow out of the FAI Cup the week before with a loss to Cork City, and Wexford piled on the misery last Friday.
The hosts were ahead just before half-time, when forward Thomas Oluwa finished calmly into the Treaty net.
The 22-year-old centre-forward raced in behind the Limerick side’s defence, knocking the ball passed goalkeeper Conor Winn before slotting into the empty goal.
It would turn out to be the decider in a game of few chances, and the result really shakes up the table, with Wexford now up to fifth.
While Tommy Barrett’s men have fell to eighth, they are just four points off of Wexford, and crucially have a game in hand on their rivals.
Treaty United return to Limerick this Friday night, as they host Longford Town at the Markets Field, kicking off at 7:45pm.
