“It’s history for us, it means an awful lot” | Kildimo-Pallaskenry’s Peter Nash on first senior win for club

The dual side won their first game at the senior grade in the Limerick football championship on Friday.

History was made in Caherconlish on Friday when Kildimo-Pallaskenry defeated Ballylanders to mark their first ever win in the Senior Football Championship.

The game ended 3-17 to 3-5 in KP’s favour, as they led from the tenth minute to the final whistle in a dominant display over the bottom side of group two. Two green flags in quick succession from Darren O’Connell and Darragh Deegan were followed by another Deegan goal after the restart which ensured them of the victory.

However, it was the points that made that difference for the side with Peter Nash notching seven for his side and the intercounty footballer believes the win is a massive achievement for the side, lifting the pressure on them after a pair of losses to start the campaign.

“Our first win at the senior grade, it’s history for us it means an awful lot to us. I can’t even put into words how big it is, it’s absolutely huge the pressure that’s been lifted from that now.”

The side, who were playing in the Junior A ranks as recently as 2017, stumbled to defeat in their initial two games against Adare and St. Kierans in first senior championship after their intermediate success last year.

With the two points on the board, four possible points remain in the group as we head into the run-in of the group stages and Nash says his side will be taking each game by game and taking nothing for granted with a quarter-final place up for grabs in a tight group.

“We take absolutely nothing for granted. This game is played and done, thank God we have two points on the board from it and we know how lucky we are to get out with two points against a team like Ballylanders.”

“We’ll be taking every game by it’s merits, game by game for the rest of the championship, we haven’t earned any right to talk about any form of quarter final or nothing like that.”
