James Cronin and Sean O’Connor return to full training

Cronin and O’Connor return to full training this week after injury setbacks over the last few weeks.

Cronin, who injured his knee against the Ospreys earlier in the season, along with academy loose forward Sean O’Connor, who recovered from his neck injury suffered against Glasgow, both returned to full training this week ahead of Munster’s first Champions cup pool game away to Castres next Sunday.

Jean Kleyn is continuing to be monitored by the medical staff following his neck injury. Darren O’Shea has progressed to modified training this week after shoulder surgery a few months back.

Gerbrandt Grobler (ankle), Conor Oliver (shoulder), Dan Goggin (knee), Ronan O’Mahony (fibula), Dave O’Callaghan (knee) and Jaco Taute (knee) all continue to follow their respective rehab programmes.

Rassie Erasmus and Peter Malone will name their Munster sides on Friday at noon for the first round of the Champions Cup and the B&I Cup.

There were a number of Munster representatives in AIL action over the weekend also. Kevin O’Byrne scored a try for Cork Con in their 24-10 loss to Lansdowne on Sunday whilst academy prospects Shane Daly, Alex McHenry and Vincent O’Brien also were involved.

Mike Sherry, along with try scorer Dave Johnston, his brother Bill and academy winger Liam Coombes all started for Garryowen in their 27-20 loss to Terenure on Saturday.

Gavin Coombes was at No. 8 in Young Munster’s surprise loss to DUFC on Saturday. James Hart started at scrum half and scored a penalty and two conversions for UL Bohs again this week in their loss to Ballynahinch over the weekend.
