Limerick Celtics seal brilliant away win in Sligo

The Limerick Celtics Men’s team travelled to Sligo yesterday where they faced the Ej Sligo All-Stars in a thrilling, high scoring battle in the National League.

Sligo led early on, but a huge push from the Celtics in the fourth quarter – thanks to a stunning 53 point game from Kevin Oberweiser – saw them take the lead with just over one minute to go as they pushed on to a dazzling 110-115 point victory at the final buzzer.

Despite finishing with just four players on the floor the Celtics put in a stellar team performance with each player adding vital scores to help secure a crucial away win for the Limerick side.

Top Scorers yesterday in Sligo were Kevin Oberweiser (53 points), Carlos Hortelano (24 points) and Egidijus Baksys (15 points).

Up next for the Celtics Men’s team is a trip down to Killarney next Saturday to take on Scotts Lakers at 7.30pm while the Celtics Ladies team will face UL Huskies on Friday night in St Munchins College.
