Limerick duo selected on Irish Squad for World U23 Rowing Championships

UL pair Rory O’Neill and Ryan Spelman will represent Ireland at the World Rowing Championships in the Czech Republic this summer.

Rowing Ireland’s High-Performance Director, Antonio Maurogiovanni has announced the athletes that will represent Ireland at the 2021 Championships.

Racing will take place from the 7th July – 11th July in Račice, Czech Republic.

In total there are 12 athletes chosen among the four crews.

Both are studying in the University of Limerick with Spelman a member of St Michael’s Rowing Club and O’Neill part of the Castleconnell boat club.

The World Rowing Under 23 Championships (WRU23CH) is the top event for the year for under-23 rowers . The championships usually take place in July and attract up to 1000 rowers from around the world. In total, there are 22 boat classes to compete in.
