Limerick’s footballers have maximum points from their first two games of the Allianz National Football League Division 4 following a 1-13 to 0-10 win over Waterford at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale.
Billy Lee’s men led by four points at half time and Pat Begley’s goal on 60 minutes confirmed a comfortable win.
Begley finished the game with 1-2 to his name, while Seamus O’Carroll helped himself to 0-4 from play. All starting forwards for Limerick got on the scoresheet.
Two points each from Peter Nash and O’Carroll saw Limerick 0-5 to 0-1 up after 11 minutes but Waterford cut the deficit to just two points in the lead up to half time.
Limerick rallied through O’Carroll and Davy Lyons to restore the four point advantage at half time.
The Shannonsiders continued to boss things in the second half and the win was sealed on the hour when Begley got a hand to Jamie Lee’s delivery and steered the ball into the net.
