Limerick name U20 Football Team for Liam O’Connor Cup clash with Clare

There are three changes to the team that beat Tipperary while there are also a couple of positional switches.

Shane Kelly has named his Limerick U20 side to take on Clare in the second round of the Liam O’Connor Cup this Saturday afternoon. Throw in on Saturday is 1pm in Quilty.

There are three changes to the team that beat Tipperary 2-8 to 0-10 in the first round last weekend in the Bog Garden.

After coming off the bench to grab their second goal, Zach McCarthy starts ar full forward alongside fellow goalscorer David O’Shaughnessy who hit 1-6.

Senior panellist Darragh Murray starts at centre-forward after being sprung from the bench against Tipp while Jamie Behan also starts at corner back.

There are a couple of positional switches also with Ciaran O’Sullivan at midfield while Mike Molly shifts to wing forward.

A win over Clare will be enough to see Limerick into the final with a game to spare as they face Offaly in the final round.

They will open their championship campaign at home to Waterford on April 10.

Kelly has an extensive backroom team with Damian Fitzgibbon (Selector), John Walsh (Selector), John O’Grady (Selector), Mikey Lyons (Coach), James Kelly (Coach) and Dermot Dineen (Goalkeeping Coach) involved.

He has a panel of 32 to work with 17 different clubs represented. Mungret St Pauls have six on the squad while Newcastle West and St Kierans both have three.
