Limerick Senior, Intermediate and Junior Hurling Championships ready for kick off this weekend | First Round Fixtures

Na Piarsaigh are the team to beat in the SHC as they take on second favourites Patrickswell in a mouthwatering opener on Friday night.

Limerick’s hurling superstars return to club action this weekend with the start of the Senior, Intermediate and Junior championship across the county.

All but the premier intermediate kick off with the second tier competition beginning last weekend. A number of John Kiely’s All-Ireland winners were involved with the rest in action this weekend.

Senior

In the senior championship, Na Piarsaigh are the team to beat as they bid for an eighth title since 2011, their first. They take on second favourites Patrickswell in a mouthwatering opener on Friday night. The meeting of Doon and Kilmallock highlights the Saturday slot.

Four of the senior games take place on Friday night with a pair on Saturday.

Patrickswell v Na Piarsaigh, Friday August 4th in Claughaun at 7.00pm   

Kilmallock v Doon, Saturday 5th in Bruff at 7.00pm  

Ahane v Kildimo Pallaskenry, Saturday August 5th in Cappamore at 7.00pm   
 
Group 2  

Monaleen v Ballybrown, Friday August 4th in the Bog Garden at 7.00pm 

Mungret St Pauls v South Liberties, Friday August 4th Fedamore at 7.00pm   

Adare v Garryspillane, Friday August 4th Kilmallock at 7.00pm


Premier Intermediate

After an exciting opening round of action, the eight PIHC teams are back in action this weekend, starting with a trio of games on Saturday. Na Piarsaigh, Effin, Blackrock and Bruff were round one winners and they all avoid each other this weekend.


Na Piarsaigh v Cappamore, Sunday August 6th in Caherconlish at 7.00pm   

Effin v Dromin Athlacca, Saturday August 5th Kilmallock at 7.00pm  

Newcastle West v Blackrock, Saturday August 5th in Ballyagran at 7.00pm  

Glenroe v Bruff, Saturday August 5th in Kilfinane at 7.00pm


Intermediate

Again there is a full round of fixtures in the Intermediate championship with the clash of Pallasgreen and Crouch Kilkenny the standout tie after they met in last year’s semi-final. Knockainey and St Kierans are new to the grade as they replace Na Piarsaigh and Caherline respectively.

Junior A

The Junior A Championship, as always looks the hardest to call with twenty four teams looking for silverware. Last year’s B champions Bruff are new as are Caherline with the 2021 champions back in tow after relegation last time out.
