Limerick set to take on Tipperary in Dillon Quirke Foundation charity game

Dillon sadly passed away in 2022, when he collapsed during a club game and died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome in Semple Stadium, aged 24.

Limerick will play Tipperary this coming Sunday, at 2pm in Semple Stadium, with all funds raised from the game going directly to the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

The Shannonsiders face Antrim in their opening league fixture the following weekend, with this charity game offering a great opportunity for John Kiely’s men to get things right on the pitch, as well as raise funds for an excellent cause.

Dillon sadly passed away in 2022, when he collapsed during a club game and died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome in Semple Stadium, aged 24.

His family have since done great work raising awareness, and set up the Dillon Quirke Foundation with the aim of providing widespread cardiac screening for young people involved in sport.

“Semple Stadium is where we tragically lost Dillon to SADS in August 2022. But it’s also a pitch on which he played regularly and spent many very happy hours. His passion, talent, and love for the game will live on in all of our hearts, and through the life-saving work of the Foundation.

Thanks to our generous and passionate community of supporters, over 200 children and young people have already been screened – and that number is growing fast.

In the coming weeks, we will be holding an official launch for the Foundation where we’ll be unveiling our long-term aims and what we hope to achieve over the next decade. For now, I look forward to an exciting game on Sunday, it won’t be one to miss!”

Dan Quirke, Dillon’s father

Tickets are available to purchase here, or on entry on the day. U16s go free accompanied by an adult, while adult tickets cost €20.

Special edition Limerick and Tipperary Dillon Quirke Foundation jerseys are also available for purchase here, with all proceeds again going towards the foundation’s work in providing crucial cardiac screenings for young people involved in sports all over Ireland.
