Limerick’s 2021 National League fixtures confirmed

The fixtures for the 2021 National Leagues have been released.

Limerick’s fixtures for the 2021 National Football and Hurling League have been confirmed with the hurlers back in action on Saturday May 15 against Tipperary in the Gaelic Grounds.

The following week the footballers welcome Tipp to the Gaelic Grounds in the first round of Division 3 South.

Both sides are in action every week from then on in.

John Kiely’s side play Galway, Waterford, Cork and Westmeath in successive weeks, rounding out the campaign on June 13 in Mullingar.

There is no knockout stages in the hurling league. The top team in each group will be declared joint winners, unless they meet in the championship, in which case, that game will double as a league final as it did in 2020 with the meeting of Clare and Limerick.

Following the Tipperary clash, Billy Lee’s footballers travel to Tullamore and Aughrim with the group stage of the league concluding on May 29.

The top two teams will advance to the semi-finals with the bottom two into a relegation play-off. If either finalist is in championship action the week after the scheduled decider, then there will be no final with the sides declared joint winners and both earning promotion.
