LISTEN: Analysis of Limerick’s morale boosting 3-0 Cup win over Cobh

Limerick FC earned a morale boosting 3-0 over Cobh Ramblers at St Colman’s on Saturday evening.

The Superblues advanced safely to the next round of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup with a comprehensive 3-0 win on the road courtesy of first half goals from Garbhan Coughlan (13,32) and Chiedozie Ogbene (37).

Neil McDonald’s side will now go into Monday’s draw for the last 16 with renewed confidence and looking forward to the visit of Shamrock Rovers to the Markets Field on Tuesday evening.

Having struggled to find the net in their recent outings Limerick needed a positive start and got their first goal on 13 minutes with a courtesy of a deft finish from Garbhan Coughlan.

Nineteen minutes later Coughlan was quickest to react as Paul Hunt could only parry Ogbene’s effort in the Coughlan’s path before he finished neatly for his second of the evening.

Ogbene added a third before the break as Limerick took complete control and kept Cobh at arms length for the second half to seal the victory.

Alan O’Brien of Limerick Soccer Live spoke with Sporting Limerick after tonight’s game and gave his analysis of the game. You can hear Alan’s take on the game in full in the link below.
