Munster confirm RG Snyman back running after injury layoff

Munster Rugby this morning issued a squad update announcing that World Cup winning second row RG Snyman has “progressed onto the next phase of his rehab, which includes running”.

Snyman was considered a marquee signing for Munster last Summer but has been out of action since August having damaged his ACL on his debut against Leinster. The 26 year-old has won 23 caps for the Springboks and was one of the star man of the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

Yesterday was Snyman’s first day of running in six months and the news of the 6’9 forward’s progression is more music to Munster supporters’ ears after enjoying the welcome return of another long term absentee Joey Carbery last weekend.

In other news, Ireland internationals Craig Casey, Andrew Conway, Shane Daly and Chris Farrell return to Munster training this week. Hawaiian prop forward Roman Salanoa and academy lock Thomas however are undergoing the Return To Play protocols after respective knocks to the head last weekend.

Along with Snyman; Neil Cronin, Matt Gallagher and Dan Goggin are all continuing their long-term rehab.

Munster take on Connacht at Thomond Park this Friday at 19:45.
