Munster Rugby squad update as preseason picks up

A number of Munster players are progressing well with their rehab going into the second week of Pre Season at the High Performance Centre in UL.

It’s believed South African second row Jean Kleyn will resume on field training in the next few weeks after a serious neck injury whilst Robin Copeland hopes to be back in action by the beginning of the new season.

Mike Sherry who hasn’t been training since May of last year due to a back injury has this week began a gradual introduction to on field training.

Other players progressing well following respective operations are Ronan O’Mahony (fibula), Dave O’Callaghan (knee) and Darren O’Shea (shoulder).

There is still senior and under 20 internationals to return to training so a number of clubs players have been brought in to increase numbers. The latest is Cork Constitutions John Poland who has been training with the squad all week.

Even though injuries hampered his progression last season whilst on a development contract, second row Sean McCarthy continues to train with the squad this pre season.

Munster’s first pre season fixture will be against old favourite Donnacha O’Callaghan’s Worcester Warriors on the 24th of August in Worcester.
