Erasmus believes the pair are “pretty doubtful” to feature on Saturday.
Tyler Bleyendaal and Niall Scannell were added to Munster’s increasing casualty list on Sunday after both players suffered injries to their neck and thumb respectively.
The out half and hooker were due to go for scans yesterday, and Munster’s director of rugby believes the pair won’t be in contention for his side’s Champions Cup round 2 fixture with Racing Metro. Speaking at Champions Cup press briefing at the High Performance centre in UL yesterday, the departing coach said
“They are going for scans today (Tuesday) and that will be analysed when we get the feedback from the scans but I think both of them are pretty doubtful.”
It most likely means that Ian Keatley will most likely take the number ten shirt with JJ Hanrahan who was instrumental in Munster A’s win last weekend being part of the match day squad. Rhys Marshall should be in line to replace Scannell at hooker if the Dolphin man is not fit for Saturday’s crucial European encounter.
