Nickie Quaid selected onto GAA Hurling Team of the Week despite Wexford loss

Even in defeat the Effin man was able to impress.

Despite being on the wrong side of the result in Wexford Park on Sunday, Limerick netminder Nickie Quaid has been named on the first GAA.ie Hurling Team of the Week.

The 2020 All-Star is the sole Limerick selection in the team after they were downed by Wexford in the first round of the 2022 League.

Limerick did concede the only goal of the game but Quaid was powerless to stop Mikie Dwyer’s effort from finding the corner of the net.

Quaid did show his class in stopping a goal bound effort from Conor McDonald in the first half with his puck outs as accurate as always.

Limerick’s conquerors Wexford, have two players named to the team in Matthew O’Hanlon and Conal Flood.

Cork have the most selections with three while Galway also have two players chosen.
