Opening Weekend Round Up | Limerick Intermediate and Junior Football championships kick off

There were eleven games played in the opening rounds of the Intermediate and Junior Football championships last weekend.

All of the Limerick Club Football Championships kicked off over the weekend with all but three games in the top four tiers taking place.

In the Senior Championship, the favourites lived up to the billing with just one draw from the six games.

The tie of the round in the Limerick Intermediate Championship saw the meeting of the last two beaten finalists as Gerald Griffins took on Rathkeale. The runners up in 2019 and 2020, Gerald Griffins took the honours over last years finalists with a five point win in group two. Mungret St Pauls and Dromcollogher Broadford also picked up wins in the group.

In their first year back in the second tier, Na Piarsaigh were winners over St Senans in a repeat of their 2014 final clash. Glin were dominant winners over Bruff in group one’s other game.

In the Premier Junior Championship, Croom, Cappagh and Kilteely Dromkeen were victors in group one. Cappamore and Monagea picked up wins in group two while Mountcollins received a walkover.

Banogue, Bruree, Na Piarsaigh, Camogue Rovers, Ahane and St Patricks were all round one winners in the Junior A Championship.

There are ten more fixtures down for decision this weekend.
