The Limerick Celtics face Dwyers of Cork Fr. Matthews at 5pm on Saturday evening while their female counterparts are in action at home to Belfast Phoenix on Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm.

It’s an away day to start with Limerick Sport Eagles also as they take on Scotts Lakers SPK of Killarney on Saturday evening at 7:30pm with the Limerick Sport Huskies battling it out with the Portlaoise Panthers at home.

In the Men’s South Conference last year, Limerick Sport Eagles finished the better of the two, finishing in third place with ten wins and six losses, beating the Limerick Celtics both times they faced each other. Manny Payton was also named on the Division 1 All-Star team for the 2021/22 season.

The Limerick Celtics, on the other hand, finished in sixth place level with two other sides with just three point separating them with their fellow Limerick side. Andre Wolford was also named in the All-Star team for the side.

Meanwhile, the Limerick Celitcs women’s side achieved a 4th placed finish in their conference with a place in the All-Star team for Sofia Paska. The Limerick Sport Huskies finished rock-bottom with just one victory to their name but Yuleska Ramirez Tejeda managed to get her name in the All-Star side as well.

All four sides will be hopeful of getting off to the perfect start this weekend.

Yesterday, the draw was also made for the President’s Cup in both the men’s and women’s division.

Limerick Celtics received a bye into the quarter finals while the Limerick Sport Eagles face the task of Dublin’s Moy Tolka Rovers.

In the women’s, the Limerick Sport Huskies face the Marble City Hawks while the Limerick Celtics get their cup campaign underway against SETU Carlow.
