PREVIEW | Limerick’s ladies footballers takes on Antrim in their Championships opener

Limerick kick off their Junior All-Ireland championship campaign this Sunday against Antrim

Graham Shine’s ladies footballers are getting ready to play the first game of the championship as they take on Antrim in Bruff this Sunday at 2pm.

Limerick will be looking to build a strong base in the championship due to a positive League campaign where they fell just short, falling to Offaly in the final.

A win this weekend against Antrim would go a long way in securing an All-Ireland semi-final spot for Shine’s side as they find themselves in a three team group.

The team is captained by Roisin Ambrose,. She earned herself an all-star during UL’s run to a O’Conner Cup title earlier this year and ahead of the visit of the Ulster side this Sunday, she is excited to get going.

“Absolutely I can’t wait to get going with the TG4 Junior championship I want to be making it to Croke Park on the 31st of July.

“It’ll be tough, we have a tough group we’re playing Antrim they were a brilliant side last year we haven’t met them yet this year. Then we’re playing New York after that obviously we don’t know what New York will bring and we just have to prepare for that”

Shine released the Limerick team that will be competing in their first game of the season

With the squad picked and the date set all that is left now for Shine and his players is to tke the field on Sunday.

The game will be streamed live by the LGFA and you can purchase below.
