Quinn set for first URC start as Munster name side for Scarlets clash

22-year-old back-row forward Alex Kendellen captains Munster in the URC for the first time, set to line out alongside Quinn and Gavin Coombes.

Graham Rowntree has named his Munster side for Friday night’s URC Round 10 clash away to Scarlets, with academy player Ruadhan Quinn in line for his first start in the competition.

Quinn is one of three academy players named in the squad, with Ethan Coughlan and Shay McCarthy among the replacements.

There are seven changes to the side that beat Crusaders two weeks ago, with Mike Haley and RG Snyman back from injury to make their first starts of the season.

Haley makes his 98th start at full-back for Munster with Seán O’Brien and Shane Daly on either wing.

Tom Ahern and Niall Scannell start after missing the Crusaders clash due to injury.

22-year-old back-row forward Alex Kendellen captains Munster in the URC for the first time, lining out alongside Quinn and Gavin Coombes.

Conor Murray has returned from international duty, set to start together with Joey Carbery in the half-backs as Alex Nankivell and Antoine Frisch continue their centre partnership.

Oli Jager and Jeremy Loughman also return from international duty, the pair joining Scannell in the front row, with Ahern and Snyman in the engine room.
