RESULTS | Killeedy and Newcastle West set up senior camogie championship final replay

The semi-finals in the Limerick Senior, Intermediate and Junior Camogie championships were played out on Sunday.

In the Senior championship, there will be a repeat of the 2020 final when defending champions Killeedy take on Newcastle West who were winners in 2019. Against a gale force wind in Newcastle, Granagh Ballingarry fell behind to the hosts as they hit 1-3 without reply to begin proceedings.

Granagh Ballingarry got off the board with a free and grew into the contest with NCW taking a 1-5 to 0-3 lead into the half. The visitors had it back to three after the restart as they hit two unanswered. But Newcastle West hit back with the next score to leave it 1-6 to 0-5 in their favour at the final waterbreak. GB had it back to three after the restart but Newcastle West found the final score of the game from a free to advance to a third successive final.

They will be joined their by reigning champions Killeedy who were too strong for Ahane winning out 4-9 to 1-4. The hosts got off to a brilliant start as they plundered 1-4 in the first quarter while keeping their opponents scoreless. The deficit was eight when Ahane got off the mark but three in a row helped them reduce the lead to 1-6 to 0-3 at the half. They further cut the lead with a goal eleven minutes into the half to bring them within three. But Killeedy responded like champions and their second goal had them seven clear at the final waterbreak. Their third goal came with ten to play before they rounded out the scoring with a fourth approaching injury time to return to the final.
