Roisin Upton and Ireland looking to book World Cup quarter-final spot

Limerick woman Roisin Upton gears up for a crucial Women’s Hockey World Cup pool clash with India today (Thursday).

Ireland who are the second lowest ranked side in the competition, lead pool B on 3 points following an opening day win over the USA where Upton turned in an impressive display.

The girls in green could qualify directly to the quarter-finals with a win over India on Thursday after hosts England drew with the United States in London on Wednesday night.

India lie third in the pool with a point following a well earned 1-1 draw with England in their tournament opener.

The four pool winners go straight to the quarter-finals, while the other four spots are earned through cross-over games from the teams that finish second and third in each pool.

Ireland vs India is live on BT Sport at 2pm today.
