Springbok legend Jean De Villiers reveals favourite Munster moment

Despite only staying one season with Munster, Springbok legend Jean De Villers is fondly remembered by munster fans. The man from the Western Cape scored 8 tries in 23 games for Munster with some notable efforts against Glasgow and Northampton but one however stands out in particular

Speaking to Sporting Limerick this week, De Villiers revealed that it was Munster’s memorable 37-14 win away in Perpignan in 2009 that stands out as his favourite moment in the red shirt.

“I scored quite a special try against Glasgow at Thomond park in the corner where I was sort of airborne and still managed to dot the ball down which was pretty good, but that try against Perpignan and getting the bonus point in that win and sort of being dropped the week before and playing off the bench, the emotion in that and the way the team celebrated with me is definitely a moment in my career that will always stay with me.”

You can see highlights of that epic performance on the link below. To see De Villiers try, skip to 2 minutes and 12 seconds. Later today, you can also hear the thoughts of De Villiers on Munster’s new head coach, Rassie’s return to South Africa and the revamped Pro14.
